The first article I have chosen is the Martian diaries by Alexandra Witze. (Witze, 2015) This article discusses the various updates with regards to the Martian mission that NASA launched and provides and insight with photos as to the developments of the program. The second article I have chosen is The Drone Papers by Betsy Reed and several others. (Reed et al) This article explores the assassination programs conducted by the US military in Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia, and is done so by explaining and documenting on the cache of secret documents obtained by the reporters through a whistle-blower. 

Beginning with their purpose, we note a stark contrast. The Martian Diaries was made with the intent to mostly be educational, educating readers about the developments about the project on Mars that NASA launched. On the other hand, The Drone Papers was made with the intent to expose the US government and military on their doings in different countries, specifically assassinations in several war-torn countries. This leads nicely towards the difference in their target audience as well, as with different purposes, the target audience would change as well. The target audience of The Martian Diaries is more towards readers interested in the topic of science, or specifically space related subjects. As for The Drone Papers, it seeks to target people who wish to be educated on the doings of the American Government and military.

In terms of the context, The Martian Diaries posts a series of photos, videos and tweets relating to the series of events developing on Mars. It follows the timeline and developments of the project and describes these key events in detail. The Drone Papers shows eight different possible articles to choose from, with each describing different areas that readers may be interested in. As mentioned above, the context stems from the leaked documents relating to the assassinations in the middle eastern countries, and the authors wrote different articles relating to the different circumstances based on the leaked documents.
